16 Reasons To Save Money
Why do we need to save? What's the point? Here are some reasons I think are important.
- Family Vacation. You need to plan out and pay cash for your vacations. There's nothing good about slapping your vacation on VISA and having to pay for it the next year.
- Retirement. Your working life will end one day. What do you want to do with that stage of your life? How well you save will determine your choices.
- Back to School. As the father of two I can tell you kids outgrow their clothes. They need replacements. These costs need not take you by surprise.
- Christmas. It happens the same day every year. Save for it. Pay a set amount into savings every month to cover the expenses of Christmas.
- Large purchases - furniture, appliances, car.
- Don't contribute more debt to your family. Your finances don't need the stress of more debt. Save up and pay cash for things.
- Job Loss. Lots of people in the U.S. have had to deal with this in the last 2 years. What if you lost your job tomorrow? How much do you have set aside if the unexpected were to happen?
- Emergency Fund. Life is full of surprises. Cars need repair. Things break down. You need to have a minimum of $1000 to handle these events.
- Childrens' Athletics. Registration fees, equipment costs, gas for travel. These are all a part of having a child on a sports team. Plan ahead for these costs.
- Yard Care. Your grass will need to be cut. You do things in your yard to make it look good.
- Home Maintenance. AC filters, repairs, and cleaning supplies are a necessary part of caring for your home.
- Ink Cartridges. If you use a computer in your home, the ink does run out.
- Car Maintenance - tires, oil changes, tune ups, etc.
- Birthdays - Just like Christmas they happen once a year. Plan for them.
- Mother's Day/Father's Day - ditto
- Anniversary - ditto
What have I left out? Please add one to my list. And if you haven't started saving, start today.
I think you have covered it all here. Don’t we feel more secured when we have money to spare in case of emergencies?
