How to Make Your Money Work Hard

You work hard for your money.  You should want to get  the most out of it.  Below are some ways to make your money work hard for you.

  • Seek the best rates.  This applies to savings accounts, investment accounts as well as your mortgages.  You need to be aware of what you're being charged.  You also need to know what interest your accounts are earning.
  • Invest regularly.  You need to pay yourself first.  Nobody is responsible for your future except you.  Investing regularly will help you build wealth for a good retirement.
  • Buy assets.  An asset is something that will increase in value.  A home is an example.  Since there are risks involved in investing, it's important to research investments before jumping in.
  • Budget your money.  You must know where your money is going in order to win.  This applies both in business and your personal finances.
  • Negotiate on purchases.  You don't have to pay retail prices.  Look around on Ebay or Craigslist before springing  for a new item.  You have options.  Be willing to say "That's not good enough."  Be willing to walk away.
  • Attack debt.  You should do your best to eliminate debt from your life.  Debt limits options.  The less debt you have, the more choices you have.

I hope these tips will help you make the most of your money.  If you have a suggestion to add, please comment.
