Does It Take Money to Make Memories?

As a husband and father of two I recognize our family's need for fun.  Vacation is an important part of a family's life.  In these tough economic times it's important to ask what amount you want to spend on fun.  We sometimes mistakenly think that family fun must be expensive.  There are many options to think about when it comes to family fun.  Below are some options that don't cost a lot but can easily bring fun.

  • State parks
  • Ball parks
  • Campouts
  • Game Night at home
  • Sleepovers
  • Homemade crafts
  • Watch a movie together
  • Family Night in the Kitchen (everyone has a role to play)
  • Housesit for family who are going out of town (free lodging)
  • Go to a park in off season (lower rates)
  • Use family connections (e.g.  Uncle Jim's company gives out free/discounted tickets to local attractions)
  • Remember children spell love T-I-M-E.

What other inexpensive choices have I left out?  Please comment if you can add one to my list.
